English Rose Hats

The yardage on this yarn was pretty good so I was able to make two hats from one skein. This one, another Fuego, is child sized and would probably fit a four or five year old. I scaled down the pattern by using a smaller needle, a lighter weight yarn and eliminating one of the pattern repeats. Here's a picture of the hat stretched onto Ms. Styrofoam Head.

The second hat is adult sized with the same lighter weight yarn. It is another version of the Wild Leaves pattern, just like the blue one I posted a couple of days ago. The yarn is Malabrigo Arroyo and the colorway is English Rose.

Two Hats for Sally

Our neighbor, Sally, almost always wears something on her head so it is fun to make her a couple of hats every now and then. I also like to try out new patterns and new yarn and hat projects are a great way to do that.

The pattern for the blue one is Wild Leaves. It is knit in Malabrigo Rios - the color is Azul Profundo.

The purple one is knit from the Fuego Hat pattern. The yarn is Plucky Trusty in the Cressey Road colorway.

July 2014 Bee Blocks

The guidelines for this month's charity quilt were pretty loose - untrimmed wonky log cabins in a particular color scheme. These blocks are not real beauties on their own but the finished quilts always seem to work. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts, so to speak.

These are my last blocks for the do Good Stitches Cheer circle. July 2012 was the first month of the group and I decided recently to quit and let someone else take my place. My enthusiasm for donated craft items is leaning more toward knitted hats right now and less toward sewing quilt blocks. There is usually a waiting list of quilters for dGS so I'm sure my replacement will be happy to get the email invitation to join up. Happy quilting to the group!
